About OOCL
OOCL (Orient Overseas Container Line) is the major Hong Kong carrier founded by C.Y. Tung in 1947, wholly owned by China’s COSCO Shipping since 2018. OOCL was the first Asian line to move containers across the Pacific, back in 1969.
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Harbour Centre, Hong Kong. Its main trade areas: Transpacific, Intra-Asia, North Europe, Atlantic and Global.
OOCL is a member of the Ocean Alliance, alongside CMA CGM, COSCO, and Evergreen.
How to track a OOCL container
Every OOCL box carries an ISO 6346 number: four letters (the owner prefix), six digits and a check digit. OOCL prefixes include OOCU and OOLU. Enter the container number, the bill of lading or the booking reference and Navo24 detects which one it is.
The tracker joins OOCL's own events (gate out, loaded, departed, transhipped, discharged) with the vessel's AIS position, so you see where the box is now, not where it was at the last port call.
OOCL schedules, rates and free time
Before booking, compare OOCL sailings by transit time and by real on-time reliability: SchedulesMCP measures actual against scheduled arrivals for every lane OOCL serves.
For the price, FreightRatesMCP shows market rates for 20GP, 40GP and 40HC on a port pair. After arrival, demurrage and detention start once OOCL's free time runs out, and Navo24 counts the days left on every box.
