About SM Line
SM Line, a South Korean carrier launched in 2016 by the SM Group after acquiring assets from the collapsed Hanjin Shipping. It rose directly out of the 2016 fall of Hanjin, once the world’s seventh-largest line.
Main trade areas: Intra-Asia and Transpacific.
How to track a SM Line container
Every SM Line box carries an ISO 6346 number: four letters (the owner prefix), six digits and a check digit. SM Line prefixes include SMCU and SMLM. Enter the container number, the bill of lading or the booking reference and Navo24 detects which one it is.
The tracker joins SM Line's own events (gate out, loaded, departed, transhipped, discharged) with the vessel's AIS position, so you see where the box is now, not where it was at the last port call.
SM Line schedules, rates and free time
Before booking, compare sailings on your lane by transit time and real on-time reliability across all carriers, SM Line included where it publishes schedules.
For the price, FreightRatesMCP shows market rates for 20GP, 40GP and 40HC on a port pair. After arrival, demurrage and detention start once SM Line's free time runs out, and Navo24 counts the days left on every box.
