About Matson
A US carrier founded by Captain William Matson in 1882, headquartered in Honolulu and Oakland. Its expedited China–Long Beach service is one of the fastest transpacific runs afloat.
Main trade areas: Hawaii, Guam, Alaska and Transpacific.
How to track a Matson container
Every Matson box carries an ISO 6346 number: four letters (the owner prefix), six digits and a check digit. Matson prefixes include MATS, MATU, CXCU, HRZU and RSLU. Enter the container number, the bill of lading or the booking reference and Navo24 detects which one it is.
The tracker joins Matson's own events (gate out, loaded, departed, transhipped, discharged) with the vessel's AIS position, so you see where the box is now, not where it was at the last port call.
Matson schedules, rates and free time
Before booking, compare sailings on your lane by transit time and real on-time reliability across all carriers, Matson included where it publishes schedules.
For the price, FreightRatesMCP shows market rates for 20GP, 40GP and 40HC on a port pair. After arrival, demurrage and detention start once Matson's free time runs out, and Navo24 counts the days left on every box.
